Amity well hits nine anomalies

Amity looks set to continue its recent run of good form after encountering nine gas anomalies at its Adatepe-1 well in Turkey.

Amity well hits nine anomalies

Primary gas targets were predicted at 1190m and 1206m in the Danismen Formation and the anomalies were encountered during the latest drilling from 658m to 1211m.

Wire line logs will be used to test the significance of the anomalies after drilling has been completed through the remainder of the target to the intermediate casing point at 1400m.

The section drilled was Danismen Formation claystone, shale and sandstone with minor limestone and coal. Gas anomalies were associated with sandstone units and occur mostly in a background of 0.4% - 3% total gas.

The Adatepe-1 well is located six kilometres southeast of the Gocerler Gas Field and about 140km west of Istanbul, in the Thrace Basin.

Amity has estimated unrisked potential recoverable natural gas reserves in the most likely case (P50), at 93 billion cubic feet, if gas is present.

The wait now is to see if Amity can exploit the available resources in the Whicher Range.
