DRILLING

Amity spuds Adatepe 4

Amity Oil has kicked off its fourth Adatepe well, targetting over-pressured gas zones revealed by the Adatepe-1 well.

Amity spuds Adatepe 4

Adatepe-4, almost a kilometre from the initial well, will be drilled to 1700 metres into the shales of Osmancik Formation and will penetrate some 117 metres of Osmancik Formation. The well is interpreted to be 50 metres down dip to Adatepe 1 at the top Osmancik horizon.

Adatepe-1 encountered significant over-pressured gas bearing sandstone while drilling the Osmancik Formation between 1543 and 1560 metres. The Osmancik sands were not tested in Adatepe-1, as they were considered poor quality and the well was completed in the overlying Danismen A1 1173 sand.

Amity said the Adatepe-4 well will be drilled with a modified KCL–Polymer mud to avoid the high level of reservoir damage commonly associated with conventional overbalanced drilling of the sensitive Thrace sandstone reservoir units.

Interests are Amity Oil (operator, 50%) and TPAO (50%).
