The Cayirdere-2 well, the third well on the Cayirdere field and the second development well, is located about 33km southeast of the Gocerler gasfield. The well will be a second production well on a shallow anticline with a coincident 2D seismic amplitude ("bright spot") anomaly.
So far the Cayirdere field, which was put into early production on 17 December 2003, has been producing from the discovery well only. Cayiredere-3 was completed early in February as a gas well awaiting tie-in to the existing gas plant.
The well is in the Petroleum Exploration Licence AR/AOI/3338, which forms part of Area "B" of the Thrace Joint Venture and is located approximately 120 kilometres west of Istanbul in Turkey's onshore Thrace Basin.
The Cayirdere structure is a shallow anticlinal with strong amplitudes on the 3D seismic data. The closest wells to Cayirdere-2 is Cayirdere-1 which was put on early production this month.
Participants in the field include Amity Oil International 50% and Türkiye Petrolleri A.O. 50% (operator).
