The 'Your Future Your Choice' program will target the next generation of workers by advising school students of the variety of professions required to keep the mineral and resource sectors running.
Not surprisingly, the campaign also promotes the financial benefits of mineral and energy work along with the range of careers available to tertiary qualified or skills based employees.
Additionally today's summit, held in the Legislative Assembly, will be used to develop strategies to boost the amount of engineering design, engineering construction and fabrication work performed in WA.
"With projects like Woodside Train 4 and Burrup Fertilisers currently under construction and new projects like the $11billion Gorgon project imminent, growth in WA's multi-billion dollar oil and gas sector is underpinning WA's performance as Australia's leading State economy," said State Development Minister Clive Brown.
"However, we can get even more benefits from these major projects if we maximise the engineering design, engineering construction and fabrication work performed in WA."
