Amity rewards shareholders with option issue, looks to spud next Gocerler well

Perth based, Turkey-focused oil and producer Amity Oil has rewarded the shareholders who stuck by the company during the Turkish exploration and subsequent production phase with a bonus issue of options. Amity will distribute on the basis of one option for every four shares held on 30 August 2002.

Amity said each option will entitle the holder to subscribe for one ordinary fully paid share at an issue price of $1.00 on or before the date that is two years from the date of grant. Amity added it will apply to Australian Stock Exchange to have these options admitted for official quotation on the ASX.

Amity reminded existing option holders that to ensure they qualify for these new bonus options they must exercise their existing options before the Record Date of 30 August.

In other Amity news, the company told the ASX that it has recently been involved in negotiations with a Turkish energy-marketing group and, if successful, it should result in a large proportion of uncommitted Gocerler gas being readily contracted.

On the exploration side, Amity said the Cayirdere-1 well is likely to spud early next month, but the specific timing is up to the operator, Turkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO).

The 3D seismic program, which is expected to take about eight weeks, is making good progress in ideal weather conditions, Amity said.

The survey is designed to define subsurface structures along some 24 kilometres of the Gocerler structural trend and to assist with the optimisation of development well locations on the Gocerler field.

As for its Thrace Joint Venture natural gas processing plant and pipeline, Amity engineering staff and consultants have completed engineering studies on tie-in of the Gocerler 2 and 3 wells and a plant upgrade to increase production capability to 30 million cubic feet per day.

Amity said the upgrade plan, which is subject to Joint Venture approval, calls for a satellite gas processing plant at the Gocerler-3 well site, with separate gas and condensate pipelines back to the main plant at the Gocerler-1 well site.
