Amity to drill new gas target in Turkey

Amity Oil has told the stock exchange it intends to drill a new well in Turkey's Thrace Basin to ...

Amity said one of the attractions of the prospect was the presence of a prominent seismic amplitude anomaly, which are usually direct indicators of gas presence. The Cayirdere structure is on the eastern side of the Thrace Joint Venture and is close to four producing gas fields - Ardic, Degirmenkoy, Karacali and Yulafil.

The well will be operated by Amity's partner, Turkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO), which is looking at a spud date in third quarter 2002. Amity has a 50 per cent interest in the JV.
