One up and one down for Woodside

Woodside and BHP Billiton are preparing to run wireline logs on the Knott-1 exploration well, loc...

Knott-1 is located only five kilometres east of Skiddaw-1 and eight kilometres east of Stybarrow-1 in 685m of water, with the Stybarrow field close enough to Woodside’s planned Enfield development to be considered for a tied-in development.

Woodside has suffered a minor set back in the US after its deepwater Kansas-3 exploration well (OCS-G 18617-2) located in the Gulf of Mexico on was plugged and abandoned at a depth of 5,110m (16,765 feet).

Kansas-3 was a replacement well for the Kansas-2 well which had to be plugged and abandoned due to mechanical difficulties.

The well is located approximately 11 kilometres northeast of the giant Neptune discovery which encountered a net oil play of 34.7 metres at the Neptune-7 well, 500 foot net pay at Neptune-5 and two reservoirs with a total 150ft net oil pay at Neptune-3.

Woodside owns a 16.665% working interest in the leases that comprise the Kansas Atwater Valley block 488 prospect.
