Stybarrow-4 confirms Macedon reservoir

The Stybarrow-4 appraisal well has continued the good run for Woodside and BHP in WA-255-P, intersecting 11 metres of oil bearing reservoir in the Exmouth Sub-basin.

Stybarrow-4 confirms Macedon reservoir

The JV is currently preparing to plug and abandon the well after reaching the primary target Macedon member sandstone where the previously drilled Stybarrow-3 vertical well encountered 2 metres of oil bearing sand in the same reservoir interval.

Located in water depths of 790 metres Stybarrow-4 follows on from the Stybarrow-2 appraisal well which intersected a 22 metre oil column, and Stybarrow-1 which yielded a 23 metre oil column.

The field is close enough to the planned Enfield development by Woodside to be considered for a tied in development. On completion of the plugging and abandonment the rig will move to the Knott-1 well location, also in WA-255-P.

Equal joint venture participants in WA-255-P are BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty. Ltd and Woodside Energy Ltd.
