Hyundai lands Cido tanker order

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co unit, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co (HMD) has landed a US$150 million contract to build four petroleum carriers for Japan’s Cido Shipping.

In a statement HMD said, “The 47,000 DWT carriers will be delivered to the Japanese company from the first half of 2008. The four will each measure 183 metres in length, 32 metres in width and 19 metres in depth.”

“Cido Shipping operates a fleet of 40 vessels including [petroleum carriers and] HMD has maintained good relationship with Cido over the years, providing the shipping company with ship repair and conversion services,” it added.
