Batangas-Manila will be the longest onshore natural gas pipeline in the country.
In a statement PNOC-EC spokesman Rudolph Dimen said, “The companies [are] Pacific Consultants International Inc & JGC Philippines, Worley and Maunsell, Mott MacDonald, Gulf Interstate Engineering, CB & I John Brown, Engineers India Ltd, JP Kenny Pty Ltd, and a Korean consortium consisting of LG International, Hyundai and the Korean Gas Corp, [and] we expect the bids evaluation to be completed in a month’s time.”
“The project is expected to commence during the last quarter of the year and will last for approximately seven months. After which PNOC-EC will call for the engineering, procurement and construction tender package for the pipeline project, which will be issued by the third quarter of 2005,” added Dimen without elaborating further.
The entire project calls for the laying of a 100 km natural gas transmission system from Batangas to Metro Manila with a 35 km spur line to Rosario and Cavite and sub-transmission pipelines for potential consumers in the surrounding areas. PNOC-EC is aiming for start of operations in 2007.
