Now, construction of the gas pipeline project is “expected” to begin this September or in early October.

The 489 km pipeline, capable of 24 mmscmd, was initially mooted for April but has been delayed due to less than enthusiastic bids for all 18 packages of the project.

In a statement the company said, “The project was divided into 18 items such as line pipe package, gas turbine compressors, pipeline coating and small items like metering machines and electrical items [and] tenders were invited for all the items. But, the response was encouraging only for 13 packages.”

“Re-tendering for the remaining five packages is expected shortly [and] price bids for the 13 packages will be called soon,” added GAIL.
