Located 40 kilometres south of Perth, the $511 million ERWTE plant is forecast to process approximately 330,000 tonnes of waste per year, preventing the release of more than 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year - the equivalent pollution generated by around 64,000 cars.
The plant also represents a significant opportunity for the generation of affordable green power. The facility will generate 29MW of renewable baseload energy to the local grid, enough to power more than 36,000 households.
Iain Garvin, Valve & Process Manager of Winnellie V&P said being part of a project which will have such a huge positive impact on the environment, has presented an exciting opportunity for the company to become an even bigger part of Australia's energy sector.
"This project gives us the opportunity to diversify our portfolio, whilst announcing Winnellie Valve & Process as a serious player in the Australian valve market," he said.
While the company has had a dedicated valve division within Winnellie Hydraulics since early 2018, with particular success in the oil and gas industry, it saw an opportunity to expand its offerings and officially launched Winnellie V&P in March 2021.
The expansion has proven successful, as is evident with the company's significant contract win for the ERWTE project. The contract will see Winnellie V&P initially supply 885 valves for the plant, gradually rising to over 1,000 valves, for various applications such as water, steam and condensate.
Mr Garvin said while the contract required many types of valves to varying specifications, the client was looking for a supplier who could provide a complete package, a requirement which Winnellie V&P was able to meet.
"Winning the contract demonstrates the value our clients find in dealing with a smaller, customer focussed supplier like Winnellie V&P that's committed to supporting their unique needs. It shows we can compete with the best of them through our lean business model and technological advantages, ensuring quality products, first class support at the best value for money."
Max Nicholson, General Manager of Winnellie V&P said while the contract win means the company continues to grow across Australia, the company's pillar values will continue to underpin the organisation.
"Winnellie V&P has adapted the company's foundational principles that play a major role for the business. They will keep guiding not only our team, but also our contractors, suppliers, customers and stakeholders as the company continues to develop," Mr Nicholson concluded.
