New WA govt. website

Accessing information about the regulation and facilitation of WA's biggest economic sector, the resources industry, is now a lot easier thanks to the new Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (MPR) website.

The Department has recently launched its new user-friendly, enhanced website to emphasis its wide range of information services.

Director General, Jim Limerick said the new website has improved access to information while reflecting the Department's new vision of Sustainable Prosperity.

"We have a Why WA section providing eight good reasons why Australian and international companies should invest in Western Australia," Mr Limerick said.

Also included on the homepage are direct links to the Department's popular online databases that give users access to mining titles information (Tengraph and Tendex), regional geoscientific data (GeoVIEW.WA) and petroleum exploration data (WAPIMS).

Other features on the MPR website include: Geoscience publications and maps from the Department that can be purchased online; the latest resource production figures for 2001 as well as an analysis on the overall performance of the resources sector; regular posting of employment opportunities so that visitors can find out what positions are available in the Department and apply for them online; the latest MPR publications in downloadable Portable Document Format such as Prospect, the Statistics Digest and Fieldnotes; and an industry calendar highlighting important up-and-coming events in the Australian resources sector.

The site can be found at www.mpr.wa.gov.au
