Main Pass 19 starts gas production: Petsec

PETSEC Energy has started production from the three wells drilled in mid 2005 at the Main Pass 19 gas field in the Gulf of Mexico, USA, reports Petsec Energy. Meanwhile, the current four-well drilling program from the Main Pass 19 platform is continuing with the second well expected to reach total depth early next week.

Petsec announced late in December that the first well of the new program had resulted in a commercial gas discovery and the company is hoping that the upcoming wells will continue its success at this field.

The three wells drilled last year that have just been brought into production are delivering initial rates of 15.5 million cubic feet of gas per day, of which 7.1 million cubic feet of gas per day is net to Petsec Energy, the company said.

The wells are being held at these rates but each well is monitored and tested, rates will be adjusted to optimise performance, according to Petsec.
