AWE Javanese gas find looks significant

AUSTRALIAN Worldwide Exploration and its Indonesian joint venture have flowed 12.8 million cubic feet of gas per day during testing of the Lengo-1 exploration well in the Bulu production sharing contract off East Java.

The flow confirmed the results of wireline logs and downhole sampling that indicated the presence of gas over a 42m gross interval.

Operator PearlOil Satria plans to drill the well from its current depth of 865m to the planned total depth of about 995m.

The previous well in the program, Lisah-1, was plugged and abandoned last month as a duster.

Participants in the Bulu PSC are: PearlOil Satria (operator - 42.5%), AWE (42.5%), PT Satria Energindo (10%), PT Satria Wijaya Kusuma (5%).

AWE farmed-into the acreage in June, taking a 42.5% stake off Abu Dhabi-based Aabar Petroleum in return for funding $US12 million towards drilling the first two exploration wells.

Covering 3495 square kilometres, the Bulu PSC is located in the East Java Basin in water depths of about 60m.
