Tevet-2 sidetracked after big kick

Joint venture partner Hardman reports that the well took a kick at 3,741m, but it was currently unknown whether the influx comprised water or hydrocarbons. Well control operations were undertaken resulting in the eventual abandonment of the original borehole by means of cement plugs.

At midnight, local time, preparations were underway to drill the Tevét-2 ST1 sidetrack to the next casing point.

Drilling would then proceed to total depth. The Cretaceous Exploration target and planned total depth of 3,965 metres remain unchanged.

Tevét-2 is 2.5 kilometres south of the Miocene discovery well Tevét-1, and lies in a water depth of 466 metres. All reported depths (except water depth) are referenced to the rig rotary table.
