Emu Apple-2 fruitful for Origin, Santos

A SURAT Basin joint venture in which Santos and Origin Energy are partners has completed the Emu ...

In a drilling update, Origin said the Emu Apple-2 well, in the Redcap Block of ATP 470P, encountered good oil shows in the Boxvale Sandstone and the basal Evergreen Formation.

As a result, the well was cased and suspended as a future Boxvale Sandstone oil producer.

The Mitchell 152 rig then moved to the Emu Apple-2 well location, where drilling began yesterday morning.

These two appraisal wells come 18 months after the oil field was discovered with the Emu Apple-1 wildcat.

Emu Apple-2 is located 400m northwest of the discovery well, while Emu Apple-2 is 420m to the southwest.

Interests in the drilling program are Origin’s wholly owned subsidiary Angari Pty Ltd 67.5%, Origin Energy CSG Ltd 22.5% and Santos QNT Pty Ltd 10%.
