This is in addition to the previously announced gas flow of 2.5 million cubic feet per day from the Rewan Formation and 29,000 cfd from the Precipice Sandstone.
Sunshine said while the basement gas flow was minor, it demonstrated the presence of movable hydrocarbons.
“The well results are highly encouraging in terms of the potential for additional conventional gas discoveries in Sunshine’s partly owned Roma Shelf properties,” the company said.
The JV, in which Santos holds an 85% stake and Sunshine owns 15%, now plans to move the drilling rig to start a Roma Shallow Gas (Walloon) production pilot.
