Coxon Creek-4, designed to assess the Juandah and Taroom Seam CSM production potential, is located in an area that the Rowallon-14 corehole and the subsequent Coxon Creek pilot wells last year confirmed as potentially gas productive.
At 6am (EST) this morning, Coxon Creek-4 had reached a depth of 136m and operator Santos was preparing to run 9 5/8-inch intermediate casing.
The Mitchell Drilling Rig 151 is expected to take 11 days to drill Coxon Creek-4 to a total depth of 450m.
Last week, the partners announced the previous well in the program, Coxon Creek-3, had been cased and suspended for production testing. An open-hole flow test (OFT) of the well, which included a conventional gas saturated sandstone unit, produced a maximum gas flow rate of 830,000 cubic feet per day.
The second well, Coxon Creek-2, was also completed for production testing after flowing gas from the Juandah and Taroom coal seam intervals.
Participants in ATP 336P and Coxon Creek-4 are operator Santos, which holds an 85% stake and Interstate Pipelines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sunshine Gas, which owns the remainder.
