Santos, Magellan hope for a hat trick

A SANTOS-led joint venture will case and suspend the Muthero-3 appraisal well in Cooper-Eromanga ...

Last month, the partners announced that the first well in the program, Winna-4 in PL 51, would be cased and suspendeded as a future producer from the Murta Member.

As previously reported about the second well, Muthero-3, DST 2 over the upper Birkhead interval 1316-1327 metres flowed oil on final flow at 1030 barrels per day through a ½ inch choke at 25 psi. DST 1 over the same interval as DST 2 was a mis-run due to mechanical failure.

DST 3 over the interval 1351-1357 metres in the basal Birkhead Formation did not flow to surface; instead 7.3 barrels of oil and about 15 barrels of oily mud were recovered.

In its most recent report, Magellan said the Currambar-1 exploration well in ATP 267P was yesterday running in hole with drill stem test tolls for DST 1 over the Murta Member interval between 1043-1052 metres.

It said moderate to fair oil shows were recorded in the Murta Member, while fair to poor shows were encountered in the Westbourne Formation.

Participants in Muthero-3 and Currambar-1 are Santos Group (Operator - 59.064%) and Magellan Petroleum (Eastern) Pty Ltd (40.936%).
