Winna-4 reaches total depth

A SANTOS-Magellan joint venture has reached total depth at the Winna-4 appraisal well in Cooper-E...

Once logging is complete, a drill stem test is planed over oil shows in the secondary objective Westbourne Formation, Magellan said.

Planned total depth was 1,420 metres, but the well finished at 1367m.

Winna-4 was the first of a three-well program in the Nockatunga block. The driling rig will move to the Muthero-3 appraisal well once released from the Winna-4 site.

The Winna oil field contains three wells, two of which flowed from the Murta Formation. The field is about 2km west of the Thungo oil field, in the Nockatunga region of southwest Queensland.

Participants in the Winna-4 well are Santos Group (operator - 59.064%) and Magellan Petroleum (Eastern) Pty Ltd (40.936%).
