Upper zones yield oil traces in Kitson

“Over the basal Birkhead to the upper Hutton interval (1646m-1656m) a trace to 40% oil fluorescence was encountered in interpreted poor quality (silty and calcareous) sands and minor hydrocarbon shows were recorded on the gas chromatograph,” said a well report from the partners.

“The significance of these shows and the quality and extent of the reservoir will be evaluated by wireline logs in order to determine if production testing is warranted. Wireline logs will be run once the well reaches total depth (2205m).”

Operator Cooper Energy said the drill crew was running back into the hole with the drilling assembly and was planning to drill ahead in an 8 ½“ hole towards the Poolowanna target at 1830m.

Planned total depth is 2205 metres.

Interests in PEL88 are: Cooper Energy Limited (Operator) 30%, Sundance Energy Australia Limited 45%, Enterprise Energy NL 10%, Victoria Petroleum NL 10% and Liberty Petroleum Corporation 5%.
