Participants in the South Galapagos-1 well are: ONGC Videsh Limited 55%; Antrim Energy Australia Pty Limited (Operator) 32.5%; and Magellan Petroleum (WA) Pty Ltd 12.5%.

It was the Indian company’s first exploration effort in Australia.

Meanwhile, Magellan advised that its East Mereenie-43 gas development well in the Amadeus Basin was at a depth of 1,255 metres at 06:00 hrs (CST) yesterday. The 7-inch casing has been run and cemented at 1,255m.

Located about 240km west of Alice Springs, East Mereenie-43 is to be air-drilled by the operator Santos, to a total depth of 1,351 metres, and is estimated to take approximately 23 days.

Participants in the East Mereenie-43 well are Santos Group 65% and Magellan Petroleum (N.T.) Pty Ltd 35%.
