ExxonMobil discovers more Angolan oil

The Angolan unit of ExxonMobil Corp, EEPAOL, has announced a second discovery in Angola’s deepwater offshore Block 32. The Canela-1 is located in the eastern portion of the block and is 15 km to the southeast of Gindungo-1.

In a statement EEPAOL stated, “The Canela-1 well was drilled in a water depth of 5,050 feet and tested at a rate of 6,800 barrels of oil per day from one reservoir.”

“This, and more than 35 previously announced discoveries on Angola Blocks 15, 17, 31 and 32, represent significant additions to the company's resource base in Angola, currently estimated at more than 11.5 billion oil-equivalent barrels [gross],” added EEPAOL.

Operator TEPA (Block 32) Ltd has a 30% stake in the block. The other shareholders are Marathon Petroleum Angola Block 32 Ltd (30%), Sociedade Nacional de Combustiveis de Angola (20%), EEPAOL (15%) and Petrogal Exploracao (5%). Sociedade Nacional de Combustiveis de Angola is the concessionaire.
