Stuart Petroleum said today that the fourth drill stem test conducted overnight in the interval between 2182-2189m had flowed 43 degree API oil to surface in 14 minutes at the rate of 2,200 barrels of oil per day.
This is the third recovery in the historic Acrasia-1 wildcat well in the past seven days. A DST of the basal Birkhead Formation recovered 48 deg API light crude oil on April 11 after drilling encountered strong oil shows between 1895-1909m.
The Hutton Formation sandstones, the first of two primary targets, recovered 43 deg API light crude oil on DST over a 14 metre interval between 1914-1928m last Saturday. Eight metres of oil saturated sandstone was also recovered in a core cut immediately beneath this DST interval.
As drilling continued, shows of oil have been noted in the basal Hutton Formation and in the Poolowanna Formation, and these zones will be further evaluated after the well has reached total depth.
"This completes the first major phase of what is shaping up as a most significant discovery," said Stuart Petroleum's operations director, Mr Rod Hollingsworth. "The Tinchoo flow, in particular, is one of the better Cooper Basin oil flows in recent years."
