Sydney Gas says the Wyong Gas Project will benefit both the region and the people of NSW in general once it is set up. The company envisages a network which will supply homes and industry and cut down on the state’s reliance on gas from elsewhere.
In a statement the company said, “The aim of the Wyong Gas Project is to establish a local supply of gas adjacent to the main gas transmission line, less than one and one half hour’s drive from Sydney.
"The benefits of doing so would be profound. Gas is a clean, green fuel [and] the Wyong region holds abundant gas resources, ready to be tapped.”
“The gas production techniques being used by Sydney Gas are well-suited to integration with other land uses in the Wyong region. Gas production … does not cause land subsidence. Sydney Gas’ wells occupy very small areas of land and can often be positioned in areas that would have little utility to other land users,” added the statement.
The media are also invited to the 22 April 2004 event, which will be held at the Wyong Shire Council Civic Centre from 3pm to 7pm.
