PTT pipeline in the pipeline

Thailands PTT is mulling over the idea of constructing a fourth gas pipeline to meet the countrys...

In a statement PTT said, “If the government chooses PTT to source more gas, the company may construct a fourth transmission pipeline. PTT is currently constructing a third gas pipeline which is expected to be completed by 2006.”

The company is also considering importing LNG rather than building a new pipeline, and is believed to be in discussions with Iran, Indonesia, Australia and Oman on importing LNG into Thailand.

EGAT, which is also an LNG producer, had earlier declared its interest in directly importing natural gas itself instead of depending on PTT, which currently remains the only distributor of piped natural gas in the SE Asian nation.
