“We hope that the sixth crude production year will be successful as well and that we will be able to confirm our reputation for being a stable and reliable supplier of oil to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the dynamic market of the US West Coast,” said Sakhalin Energy CEO Steve McVeigh.
The Vityaz production complex is made up of the Molikpak platform, the 158,000 tonne dead-weight Okha oil storage tanker and a floating moorage and is located in the Sea of Okhotsk.
In a statement the Sakhalin Energy Co, as operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, said, “The Molikpak platform will be extracting offshore oil for six months. This is explained by severe climatic conditions of the Sea of Okhotsk that is frozen in winter.”
The first crude of this year’s season has been earmarked for delivery to Japan.
