Starting off from the port of Nanjing, the pipeline will terminate in Yueyang City in the Hunan province.
It will be used for both domestic and imported crude and is to be linked to current existing pipelines – one linking Shengli field to Nanjing and the other from Sinopec’s Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co plant to Nanjing.
Once completed, the pipeline will have an annual transportation rate of 15.8 million tons per annum. This figure is expected to be increased to 20.6 million tons in 2010 and 22.5 million tons a decade later.
The crude will be shipped to six Sinopec refineries in Hubei and Hunan province.
