Japanese utilities to cut charges

The Tokyo Electric Power Co, Tohoku Electric Power Co, Hokkaido Electric Power Co and Chubu Electric Power Co are aiming for 50 yen cuts from current levels, while Tokyo Gas Co, Osaka Gas Co and Toho Gas Co will chop up to 66 yen off their bills.

Japan's energy price system, modifies rates on a quarterly basis, taking into consideration fluctuations in production expenses like the import prices of fuel oil and currency exchange rates and bill their customers accordingly.
