EMG is a subsidiary of Edison International, the largest provider of renewable energy in the US, with diversified interests in wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro and a variety of solar-based energy projects.
Vestas said the new turbines would begin shipment in the second half of 2006, with the first phase of the order commissioned by the end of the year and the final phase scheduled for late 2007.
Vestas said on Tuesday that the new order for 30 V90 turbines represented the strength of its continuing relationship with EMG and indicated the success of the Danish turbine manufacturer’s 3-year business strategy, Will to Win, in which it has targeted a 35% market share of the global wind market by 2008.
“We are convinced that the V90 turbine will be an important part of the continued growth of the North American market in the coming years,” said Vestas Americas president Jens Søby.
