But it is uncertain when they will start developing BMG gas. The partners were supposed to bring the natural gas component of the project online in 2009, but two months ago they terminated a gas sales agreement with Alinta in favour of boosting oil production from the Bass Strait project.
At the time, they expected to commit to a gas development within the next 12 months, with any future gas off-take arrangements to complement the oil development plan.
The two new production licences – VIC-L27 and VIC-L28 – replace the previously held retention leases VIC-RL 9 and VIC-RL10.
Anzon, as operator, said the BMG Joint Venture holds three production licences in the Gippsland Basin.
Oil production started from VIC-L26 in 2005, with full field development coming on line in December last year.
The two new licensed areas provide for developing gas resources in the acreage.
