In a statement the company said, “The Serai gas field, located offshore Sarawak Block SK-8, has started delivering natural gas. Serai’s subsea wells’ total production of 300 million cubic feet per day is sent to shore via Shell’s M3 and E11 hub complexes.”
“First gas was delivered on June 9 with the start up of the field’s subsea gas production facilities,” added the company, which is also the operator of the field.
Serai is being produced as a satellite to the neighbouring M3 gas production facilities, which in turn is supplying gas feed to the onshore MLNG Tiga LNG plant in Bintulu.
The JV sees Shell Malaysia and Nippon Oil Explorations (Sarawak) Ltd each holding a 37.5% stake in the project. The balance is held by Petronas Carigali.
