QGC looks Argyle CBM reserves in the eye

Queensland Gas Co (QGC) has announced the completion of its current testing program - shutting down all testing of the Upper Juandah coal sequences in the three Argyle wells in Block ATP620P - and has said it is awaiting the initial reserves certification.

According to QGC MD Richard Cottee, “QGC’s decision to suspend production follows advice from Netherland Sewell & Associates International, the reserve certifier that no further production data was required [and] we are expecting to receive the initial reserve certification later this week.”

“This will signal the commencement of the second phase of testing at Argyle aimed at proving a further tranche of reserves, with additional core holes and a programme designed to production test all of the Juandah coal sequences,” added Cottee.

His sentiments were shared by Company Secretary Damian Galvin who explained, “We are looking forward to being able to book QGC’s first gas reserves at Argyle as they will be the first proven Coal Seam Gas reserves in the Surat Basin.

“This will place Argyle on a fast-track to development to supply customers in south-east Queensland and we are already in discussions with several potential customers.”
