Wang also pledged that China’s largest refiner will push for the use of natural gas to benefit the environment.
According to Wang, “[My company will] raise its hydrotreating and reforming capacity to produce more clean fuels [and] also push forward increases in the use of natural gas to benefit the environment.”
Speaking at a symposium on the sustainable development of China’s chemical industry, Wang promised, “Sinopec will make efforts to explore and develop quality reserves. Oil recovery in mature oil fields will be enhanced through technical upgrades.
“We will increase the stake in overseas reserves and production to establish a stable and secure crude oil supply system in a bid to reduce risks on the crude oil market.”
The Sinopec head man also warned that China should take steps to ease its heavy dependence on imported crude oil but did not elaborate on how the country should do that.
