In a move to designed to make safety standards uniform across jurisdictions as well reduce bureau...

"A single agency will also meet the needs of the industry and the workforce by providing a consistent and comprehensive coverage of safety across jurisdictions," said WA State Development Minister Clive Brown. "This will reduce the regulatory burden and enhance Australia's attractiveness as a destination for petroleum investment."

The national offshore petroleum safety authority will be a single agency covering both Commonwealth and State/Northern Territory waters and will be accountable to Commonwealth, State and NT Ministers.
