Nigerian calamities continue with force majeure declared on Oso Field

The decision follows a fire on the field production platform last week with the facility now shut-in until a full investigation can be completed.

The company said the fire was restricted to the RG compressor platform and was brought under control within three hours of being reported. There were no injuries to any personnel and no hydrocarbon liquids released into the water.

The decision will shut down production of 45,000 barrels a day of gas and 95,000 barrels of condensed hydrocarbons for at least a month. The platform is situated 40 kilometres offshore Qua Iboe Terminal in the south eastern part of the country.
