Turkish delight, America in sight

According to Amity Oil Ltd's latest production reports, the company's fortunes have been boosted by increased production from its Turkish Adatepe field with the Perth-based company flagging its interest in some US-based gas exploration prospects.

Turkish delight, America in sight

Amity has attributed its increase in average gas sales in Western Turkey with the commencement of production at its JV in Adatepe, which helped boost sales to around 19.5 MMscfd from the previous year's 17.1 MMscfd at the same time last year. Wells 1, 2 and 3 are all operational and the field has gas production levels of 4.9 MMscfd. Adatepe-4 is scheduled for spudding in April.

The success of the Adatepe wells have certainly helped as production from Amity's Gocerler gas field had dropped from 14.5 MMscfd to 12.1 MMscfd, with condensate sales also dropping to 1,681 bbls. However, the company hopes that the next hole due to spud in Area "A" - Gocerler-6 - on 19 March will help change this.

Meanwhile, gas production from the Cayirdere field being pumped through the TPAO-operated pipeline averaged 2.4 MMscfd. Amity is awaiting finalisation of a TPAO tender to tie in Cayirdere-2 and Cayirdere-3 wells together.

As part of its objective to actively pursue new ventures, Amity is looking into several onshore USA gas exploration opportunities, which can offer near term, low risk exploration and can be put into production within three months.

In a statement, Amity said, "[It is our] strategic intention to diversify revenue streams by capturing at least two new independent revenue generating core areas [and] the USA gas market is very strong and these gas plays, if successful, offer significant upside in revenue generation at a relatively low cost."
