The first shipment of LNG from the unit has been shipped to the Lake Charles receival terminal in Louisiana. The second train was completed two months ahead of schedule, and is designed to turn natural gas from nearby fields into liquid for export. The new unit more than doubles production capacity at the plant to 8.4 billion cubic metres a year from its original 4 billion.

Construction of a third LNG train is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2003. This new train will add approximately 4.4 million cubic metres of capacity per annum.
