Oilex flows oil from Sumatra well

ASIAN explorer OILEX says the third drill stem test at its Pendalian-3 in Indonesia has resulted in the natural flow of 33-degree API oil.

Operator PT Sumatera Persada Energi said data from the test suggested the well could flow up to 1285 barrels of oil per day and sustained production rates of between 700-900bpd could be achieved once artificial lift is installed.

Further analysis of down hole data will be carried out to confirm these preliminary results.

The third test had been carried out over two intervals of between 460-64m and 466-71m.

The first drill stem test over the deepest interval had confirmed it was water-bearing while the second test was deleted from the program.

Participants in the West Kampar PSC are: Sumatera Persada Energi (55%) and Oilex (45%).
