Tintaburra
Partners Santos and Drillsearch have cased two more new oil production wells at the Tintaburra Block in southwest Queensland.
Sydney-based Drillsearch today said Endeavour-39 and Mulberry-29 were cased, while drilling operations are continuing at the Endeavour-35 and Mulberry-35 wells.
Rig PDI-724 spudded Mulberry-29 on January 30 and two 9m cores were cut and recovered over the Birkhead Formation.
Drillsearch said the core samples indicated good reservoir quality and oil presence, and wireline logs indicated about 10m of net oil pay in the Birkhead reservoir interval.
Mulberry-29 has been cased and suspended as a future oil production well.
The rig was then released to the Mulberry-35 location where PDI-724 is currently preparing to spud the well.
Rig PDI-735 spudded Endeavour-35 on February 2 and oil shows were encountered in the Birkhead reservoir. The well has been cased and suspended as a future water injector, the company said.
The rig was released on February 6 and is currently moving to the Endeavour-25 location.
Drillsearch said Tintaburra water injection wells are generally placed so that there is one water injection well between each four oil production wells to maintain pressure in the producing oil pool.
Operator Santos holds an 89% stake in the Tintaburra Block, while Drillsearch owns 10% and CPC Energy has the remaining stake.
Nockatunga
Magellan says the Thungo-13 appraisal well in the Nockatunga block, southwest Queensland has been cased and suspended as a future Murta oil producer.
The 11-well campaign in this area comprises two near-field exploration wells, five appraisal wells and four development wells to be drilled back-to-back by Santos as operator using PDI rig 721.
Drilling operations restarted on February 1 after they were suspended due to widespread rain in the region.
Thungo-13 spudded on January 21 and was drilled to a total depth of 1138m.
Oil shows were recorded in the Murta Member and wireline logs indicated 8m of net pay.
The rig was released on February 6 and is being moved to the Muthero field where four wells are planned, according to Magellan.
Interests in the Nockatunga program are operator Santos with 61% and Magellan with 39%.
