DBP go-ahead for $700m expansion

THE owners of the Dampier to Bunbury Pipeline today announced they have obtained the necessary financing and equity commitments to begin the Stage 5B Expansion, which is expected to cost about $700 million.

DBP executive chairman Stuart Hohnen said contracts with shippers for the

additional capacity of about 110 terajoules per day of firm haul capacity and 140Tjpd of part haul capacity, to be delivered from 2010 had now been completed.

According to Hohnen, construction is expected to begin next year and be completed in the first half of 2010.

DBP is majority-owned by Duet Group, with Alcoa and Babcock and Brown Infrastructure as minority owners.
