The contracting giant told the market on Friday that Suncor had extended its engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for work on the $C350 million Firebag Stage 3 Pads and Gathering System project.

This project is a key part of Suncor Energy’s plan to deliver an additional 70,000 barrels per day of oil sands at the Firebag in-situ facility located near Fort McMurray in northern Alberta, Canada.

Worley expects to pocket about $C185 million in revenue from the contract, which extends the ongoing engineering and procurement support provided on previous project phases over the past eighteen months.

The oil sands project is expected to be in commercial operation by the first quarter of 2010.
