The MeterSuite sale is part of an Experion PKS process control and monitoring roll-out intended to optimise operations on the platform.
Originally introduced in 2004, MeterSuite is a fiscal measurement solution that documents inter-company gas and liquid product flows between companies, making it easier to document and calculate appropriate tax payments.
MeterSuite integrates with Honeywell and non-Honeywell distributed control systems.
Honeywell says by integrating fiscal flow measurements and centralising the calculations, data will be more accurate, more manageable and ultimately more transparent to operators, partners and regulatory authorities.
By combining MeterSuite with the process monitoring and control technology provided by Experion PKS, Shell will be able to perform functions including: advanced database maintenance; graphics building; trending; management reporting; and Web-based intranet access.
"Our local resources, combined with the world-class technologies of MeterSuite and Experion, will help play a role in assisting the Shell North Cormorant platform overcome the challenge of fuel gas deficiency and to achieve its operational goals," said Honeywell Process Solutions (EMEA) vice president Paul Orzeske.
MeterSuite was co-developed by Honeywell and UK-based metering specialist Swinton Technology, meeting all relevant American Gas Association and ISO standards.
As integrated solutions, MeterSuite and Experion both feature digital I/O capabilities and integration with Foundation Fieldbus and HART communications protocols.
Honeywell says MeterSuite can interface with all types of fiscal meters including orifice, turbine and ultrasonic, with all calculations run inside a single general-purpose process controller, Honeywell's C200.
