Wesfarmers boss, Michael Chaney, unveiled a $538 million full year profit yesterday and said it would be interested to bid on the Epic Energy-owned pipeline if it came back on the market. It bid on the pipeline when it was initially privatised in 1997.
He said the group was prepared to spend up to $2 billion dollars on acquisitions.
This week Australian Pipeline Trust also confirmed it was looking at the WA pipleine, with managing director, Jim McDonald, saying his company would do due diligence on the 1500km pipeline.
APT's affiliate company, AGL, also bid for the DBNGP in 1997, with a bid believed to be around $1.8 million.
APT executives are believed to be in talks with the WA government this week to discuss the matter.
