According to an ABC News report, the group, Cultural Heritage Environmental Advocacy for the Kimberley (CHEAK), has enlisted the support of celebrities, including crocodile expert and filmmaker Malcolm Douglas.

The campaign includes the nationwide airing of radio and television advertisements.

Woodside Petroleum and Inpex are both planning respective LNG developments in the Kimberley that will use gas from Browse Basin fields.

Using celebrities to oppose LNG developments has gained widespread publicity in the US, where actors including Pierce Brosnan and Martin Sheen have led protests against BHP Billiton’s proposed Cabrillo Port development for off the Californian coast.
