Indian company wants equity in Aussie LNG projects

INDIA’S National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is talking to petroleum companies in Australia and other countries about taking equity in LNG projects, the Mumbai-based Financial Express reports.

During a recent visit to Australia, the NTPC team held discussions with seven companies.

Several oil and gas majors wanted to negotiate over LNG supply. Some had also indicated equity stakes of up to 10% in liquefaction facilities could be considered while finalising terms and conditions in the LNG sale and purchase agreements.

In addition, Methanol Australia had shown “keen interest” in having NTPC as a partner in both exploration and production, the newspaper said.
