THE West Cameron 343/352 gas field in the Gulf of Mexico has restarted gas production following the reopening of downstream sales pipelines.

While the platform had not been seriously damaged, the pipelines were badly hit by Hurricane Rita and had been shut-in since September 22.

One well is flowing and a second well is expected to start flowing later this week, according to Petsec.

The sales pipeline serving the West Cameron 343/252 gas field has also begun taking production from the sales pipeline that services Vermilion 258.

Vermilion 258 remains shut-in and could take up to eight weeks to return to production.
