Worley, which has offices in Perth, Kwinana, Bunbury and Kalgoorlie has a resource base of 1,400 people in Western Australia.

At a staff function in Perth recently, Worley's Chief Executive, John Grill, recognised the contribution of the company's long serving staff towards Worley's success and spectacular growth over the past decade and a half in WA.

Since acquiring Perth's Worley Engineering in 1987 and Fraser Consultants the following year, the original Wholohan Grill & Partners company - founded by John Grill and now known as Worley - has become one of Australia's fastest growing companies.

The company has since become an international supplier of professional services to the resource, energy and complex processing sectors from its 14 overseas offices spread across the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and USA.

According to CEO John Grill, much of that growth has been attributable to the company's key role in developing major projects in partnership with some of Western Australia's leading companies including Woodside, Western Mining Corporation, Epic Energy, Western Power and Worsley.

Worley is also a major supplier to and local alliance partner with many global corporations such as BP, Shell, and ExxonMobil, where its expertise has helped develop some of the state's major oil and gas, mining, power and water, refining and infrastructure projects.

Attending this week's awards were six employees with more than 20 years’ service at Worley or forerunner companies. Resource industry pioneer, Don Fraser, who opened Fraser Consultants in 1947 and whose Perth-based firm became part of the Worley group in 1988, attended as a guest.

In addressing the group of 140 attendees, CEO, John Grill recognised the importance of the Perth and WA regional operations to the company's overall growth.

"There is no doubt Perth has been a solid foundation for Worley, especially our industrial infrastructure growth and has helped us develop into new regional markets and sectors."

Above all, Grill acknowledged the integrity, technical excellence and loyalty of Worley's employees who he said engendered the unique "Worley culture" of outstanding relationships with clients, empowerment and meeting new challenges.
