The workshop - titled Health Safety and Environmental Responsibility - Corporate Citizenship in a Changing World - has attracted more than 150 delegates and will be held on 10-11 December at Perth’s Sheraton Hotel.
It is the first such workshop conducted by APPEA, Australia’s peak body representing 49 full member companies exploring for and producing oil and gas within Australia. The decision by APPEA and its members to dedicate a workshop to these issues alone illustrates the critical importance with which they are viewed by the industry.
Key speakers at the workshop include Dr Malcolm Garratt, APPEA Chairman and Vice President External Affairs for BHP Billiton Petroleum; Ms Rhonda Zygocki, Managing Director, Chevron Texaco; Mr Robert Olsen, Chairman and Managing Director, Esso Australia; Mr Chris Morris, Secretary General, International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association; Mr Michael Rae, Program Leader, World Wide Fund for Nature and Mr Jim Bass, Managing Director, Apache Energy.
